A Memorial Tribute for a Marine

In 2005, Creative Images was asked to record the funeral service of Marine Robert “Bobby” Warns II.

The full recording was created as a keepsake for his unborn child. A shorter tribute video was later posted online so family members, friends, and fellow Marines who could not attend the service could share in the remembrance.

Long before social media sharing became what it is today, the tribute reached far beyond its original purpose. Within days, it was being shared and receiving comments from people around the world, and drawing attention from local media.

The five-and-a-half-minute tribute was featured in its entirety by Milwaukee television news stations and was also discussed on national radio.

This page remains online as a memorial archive and as part of the history of Creative Images. More than anything, it is a reminder of the power video can have when it helps honor a life, a family’s grief, and a community’s gratitude.
